Our Story
Greensboro Community Trust grew out of years of community conversations, local projects, and the work of the Bend Revitalization Initiative. These milestones show how that work has evolved and how GCT continues to build capacity, strengthen community spaces, and move projects forward across greater Greensboro.
2026
March 2026 — GCT at Town Meeting
GCT shared updates on its work and continued conversations with community members about current projects, priorities, and what comes next.
February 2026 — Steeple Water and Wastewater Assessments Begin
GCT began a deeper review of water and wastewater capacity for The Steeple property, including work with regional partners and environmental consultants to better understand what future uses may be possible.
2025
October 2025 — Option Agreement Signed for The Steeple
GCT signed a 12-month Option to Purchase Agreement with the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church for the former Methodist Church and parsonage in Greensboro Bend. The project became known as The Steeple.
October 2025 — Parsonage Building Analysis
A construction analysis of the former parsonage was completed as part of the larger feasibility review of The Steeple property.
August 2025 — Steeple Open House at Bend Block Party
Community members were invited into the former Methodist Church during the annual Bend Block Party to explore the space, share ideas, and continue conversations about its future.
July 2025 — LVRT Trailhead Parking Lot Completed
Work continued at the Greensboro Bend trailhead, including improvements to the parking area and access around the site.
May 2025 — Greensboro Community Trust Formed
Building on the work of the Bend Revitalization Initiative, the Greensboro Community Trust was formed to support and manage community-led projects across greater Greensboro.
2024
December 2024 — Community Supper & VTI Survey
A community supper and survey invited residents to share ideas about Greensboro Bend, community needs, and possible future uses for the former Methodist Church and parsonage.
October 2024 — Steeple Church Building Assessment
A structural assessment of the former Methodist Church was completed to help inform future planning and feasibility work.
September 2024 — Greensboro Bend Selected for the Village Trust Initiative
Greensboro Bend and the former Methodist Church project were selected for the inaugural Village Trust Initiative, bringing technical assistance and support for community-led revitalization work.
September 2024 — LVRT Trailhead Opens
The Greensboro Bend trailhead opened as a new community and recreation resource along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.
August 2024 — Community Mural Painting at Bend Block Party
As part of the Bend Revitalization Initiative, community members helped paint a 32-foot mural designed by Vermont artist Tara Goreau for installation at the LVRT Trailhead.
2023
May 2023 — Construction Begins at the LVRT Trailhead
Construction began on the Greensboro Bend trailhead, including the parking area, bridges, landscaping, seating, signage, and other improvements designed to make the trail more accessible and welcoming.
