GCT Receives USDA Grant and Seeks Matching Donations

USDA funds will be used to support the Steeple Project through project management support, feasibility studies, due diligence analysis, and concept design.

GCT currently operates on a mix of federal, state, and private philanthropic grants as well as donations from our generous greater Greensboro community. GCT was just awarded a USDA Community Facilities Technical Assistance Grant through our regional development association, NVDA. These funds will support GCT in hiring consultants to help with feasibility studies, due diligence analysis, and concept designs for our priority project work. These funds will also be used to contract project management and organizational support to grow the capacity of GCT and complement the skills of our robust volunteer board during this crucial phase of project development. This grant award requires a 20% local match, which GCT is looking to raise this summer. 

The GCT has also received technical assistance funding and capacity from the Preservation Trust of Vermont and the Vermont Council on Rural Development, through the Village Trust Initiative (VTI). The VTI supports cohorts of community trusts in village revitalization efforts and provided the initial technical assistance to launch GCT. As a member of the inaugural VTI cohort, GCT looks forward to being a catalyst and cornerstone for the revitalization, creation, and stewardship of vibrant social infrastructure that provides new possibilities for connection and resilience throughout our greater Greensboro community.
